Rapewta
Nice sunny mid-afternoon on a Saturday at San Diego State University. 1969.
Santana opens for the Greateful Dead. Never heard of this group. Most of us haven’t. Mesmerizing latin percussions with Carlos Santana’s guitar connected with his heart. Our jaws dropped.
He announced a new release of their first LP. The artwork for the jacket (Lion’s Face) was done by Lee Conklin who was drawing posters for Bill Graham and the Filmore at the time. I had the honor of meeting Lee Conklin (and a photo op because of my wife’s idea) a few years back.
Santana’s first two LP are monsters and I still listen to them today.
